SEA TURTLE WALKS in Boca Raton

Thursdays: May 24 -July 15 Ages: 8 and older

Come witness one of nature’s extraordinary events, happening right here on our beaches. Learn about the Sea turtle’s life history, current issues affecting the turtles and what their future holds. Classes are held her at the nature center, while scouts comb the beaches for a nesting loggerhead sea turtle for us to view.

This year’s turtle watches will be held from May 24 to July 15 at 9pm.

Due to the late hour of the program children must be at least 8 years of age. Tickets must be purchased at the nature center.

Cost of ticket is $5.00 per person. Please call the nature center for further details.

Miner 49’er Week at The South Florida Science Museum in West Palm Beach, FL

April 5th-12th 2008
Monday through Friday: 10:00am to 4:00pm, Saturdays: 10:00am to 5:00pm
and Sundays: 12:00pm to 5:00pm

This Spring Break event features a week-long adventure in panning and mineral identification labs. Families can pan for authentic and “fool’s” gold, as well as precious and semi-precious gems. The Education Department shows proper panning techniques, while our geology expert identifies the names and features of each mineral and gem. Visitors keep their treasure, and can purchase a raw geode that the Museum will cut for free.

Search for Beach Treasures at Gumbo Limbo in Boca Raton

Walk the Red Reef beach in search of ocean treasures. Angel wings, sundials, spiny jewel boxes, and fighting conch are just a few of the shells you can find on Florida’s beaches.

Meet at Gumbo Limbo for your seashell introduction, and then we will caravan to Red Reef Park for a walk on the beach in search of your own treasures!

This program begins at 3:00 pm EXCEPT on January 3, 2008, when it will begin at 10:00 am.

Supervision Required: An adult must participate with children.
Age range: Open to all ages

Length of Event: Approximately 2 hours.
