Asian fusion chain opens at CityPlace in West Palm Beach
Jinja Bar and Bistro, a Pacific-rim and Southeast Asian fusion chain from Santa Fe, N.M., opens this week on the second level at CityPlace, across from Blue Martini.
The lunch and dinner menus are varied, with potstickers, miso soup, udon noodle dishes and wok preparations, as well as grilled shrimp and noodles or fried rice at dinner. Prices range from around $4 for a bowl of soup at lunch to $18 for a sashimi-grade tuna meal on the dinner list.
Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Polynesian style foods are on the list, but the chef, Prep Rapson can tweak the formula if he likes, according to corporate spokespeople. Malaysian coconut soup, shaking prawns, pad Thai and lettuce wraps are some of the foods.
A wide selection of teas is available, including several “artisan” handcrafted teas and blends. Those start at $2.50.
Its decor features travel posters from the ’30s and ’40s, golden and dark woods reminiscent of an Asian or Polynesian tea house, and huge paper umbrellas and wicker fans framing the ceilings. At the bar, cocktails like the Zombie, Blue Hawaiian, Singapore Sling, Sazerac, Sidecar and Mai-Tai are among a long list of traditional and modern drinks; they ring in at an average of $8.75. “Party Bowls” of drinks, served with two or four straws are available for those fond of the communal luau experience.
